notebook cover trials
Creations from today:
Sketches for more notebook covers, for my younger cousin who is in high school.

Foam templates used to make the prints. Templates can be made by scoring the drawing into a thin sheet of styrofoam with an awl. A pencil or ballpoint pen without ink work as scoring tools too, but the stronger and more rigid the scoring tool, the easier it is to create defined lines with it. Pencils keep breaking on me.

Tools to make block prints. Speedball’s water soluble ink is really soluble, even after drying! The oil based ink is permanent, but cleanup is harder, as you need mineral spirits(a.k.a gamsol oil) or turpentine to remove the ink from the pallet. What I like to do is use water soluble ink to test designs, and use the oil based ink in actual production.
